About the H. Michael Gallagher Jr. Memorial Fund...
Hugh Michael Gallagher Jr graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School in May 1990. His life was tragically taken from us in 1998 by a rare, and hard to diagnose, heart disease known as Brugada Syndrome. A foundation has been established in his memory with three core purposes: To help provide A.E.D.’s for School Districts in need; sponsor a $1,000 annual college scholarship, and support research for the American Heart Association.
The H. Michael Gallagher Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established September 2009. This scholarship is intended to recognize one male or one female student who possess and demonstrate many positive characteristics, not the least of which has achieved academic success through dedication, commitment, community spirit and hard work.
The foundation, has already donated and installed a “state-of-the-art” industrial PowerHeart G3 Plus Automatic AED, a wall mount cabinet and replacement parts for existing A.E.D.’s. to the Owen J. Robert School District, The Springford School District, The East Vincent Police Dept., Bay Arenac, MI School District, and Pope John Paul HS.
